The story behind
Luova
Hey, and welcome to Luova. ♥
I'm the creator behind everything you'll find here. There isn't a team behind the scenes, it's just me, and Rapsu, my cat and emotional support supervisor, who definitely needs me to keep working so she can maintain her lifestyle of treats, toys, and judging me from the desk from time to time.
I've been in Second Life for well over a decade. I originally joined after seeing it featured on CSI: NY. Curiosity got the better of me, so I signed up to have a look around. If I'm honest, I had absolutely no idea what I was doing, wandered aimlessly for a bit, and then disappeared again.
A little later, the recession left me unemployed, and while figuring out what came next, I found myself logging back into Second Life. This time it stuck.
I stumbled into medieval fantasy roleplay and completely fell in love with the creativity of it all. Back then there wasn't the variety we have today. Before mesh, choices were much more limited, and I often found myself wishing I could find something just a little different. Eventually that thought became, "Well... maybe I should learn how to make it myself."
So I did.
I taught myself Blender through endless experimenting, YouTube tutorials, mistakes, moments of wanting to throw my computer out of the window, and more coffee than I'd like to admit. Somewhere along the way I also picked up Photoshop, Substance Painter, rigging, texturing, and all the other skills that come with creating for Second Life. Looking back at my first creations is... an experience. We all have to start somewhere!
These days, creating for Second Life isn't just something I enjoy, it's my full-time job. Most days you'll find me modelling, texturing, scripting, testing, fixing things I've accidentally broken, fixing the fix that broke something else, and occasionally saying, "This will only take an hour," before realising it's somehow tomorrow.
Why Luova?
Luova came after some pretty major changes in my life. Starting over wasn't easy, but creating a new Second Life account and building a new brand felt like the fresh start I needed.
Life has had its ups and downs since then, so I don't always release as much as I'd like. That's just life sometimes. Luova is always growing, always changing, and there are far more ideas in my head than there are hours in the day.
One thing you'll probably notice is that Luova doesn't fit neatly into one category, and that's entirely intentional.
Some days inspiration leads me towards elegant gowns. Other days it's jewellery, furniture, home décor, fantasy pieces, or something completely unexpected. Sometimes an event theme sparks an idea. Sometimes it's something a customer mentions in passing. Sometimes I wake up with an idea that absolutely refuses to leave my brain until I've made it.
I don't really plan what I'll create six months from now. I simply follow whatever inspires me next.
Everything you'll find here is created by me from start to finish. Not because I think it's the only way to create, but because it's the part I love most. I enjoy seeing an idea grow from a blank Blender scene into something that eventually ends up in someone's wardrobe or home. That feeling hasn't gotten old, and I hope it never does.
Creating for Second Life has become more than a hobby. It's my full-time job, my creative outlet, and something I'm incredibly grateful to do every day.
If you've ever supported Luova in any way, whether through a purchase, a kind message, a photo, or simply by stopping by the store, thank you. It means more than you probably realise.
I hope something I create brings a little joy to your Second Life.
